DESCRIPTION:Make Huyton Village \nLocated on Derby Road in the heart of Huyton Village Centre\, Make Huyton Village offers private studios and shared workspace in Knowsley. Make Huyton brings a hive of creativity to the town centre with a high tech Innovation Lab\, allowing members of the community to experiment with making and product creation. Make Huyton Village is open 24 hours for all of our residents. \n\n\n\n\nMake Huyton Village Open Days \nInterested in a studio space or just curios about what Make do and how to get involved? Come along for a tour of our newest space Make Huyton Village. \nTours will last 40 to 60 minutes and and begin every hour on the hour (eg. 11:00\, 12:00\, 13:00 and 14:00) at the front of Make Huyton Village\, 47-49 Derby Road\, Huyton\, during open day hours (please check the open day hours for each date as they differ). \nHave a look at our range of studio spaces\, hear about our future plans\, check out our brand new “Innovation Lab” and find out about our upcoming programme. \nYour tour will conclude at Make on the Corner at 22 Derby Road\, our additional space used for events\, meetings\, workshops\, classes\, pop-up shop\, exhibitions\, etc. \nWhether you are a creative looking for a studio to work\, need a space to put an event or class on\, or whether you are just nosey – please register\, come along and join us! \nDogs and children are welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout your Guide \nYour guide on the open days will be Mia Tagg\, the Project Lead for Make Huyton Village. \nMake’s newest team member\, Mia has twenty years experience working in business start-up and project management in Liverpool and London\, focused on arts and hospitality. \nPrevious projects include the cafe bar at FACT\, Northern Lights for Baltic Creative and Homebaked Anfield. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere is the venue ? \nMake Huyton Village is situated at 47-49 Derby Road\, Huyton which is on the pedestrianised High Street in Huyton Village. The space was formally Boots. \nWhat time does the tour start? \nThe tour around Make Huyton Village takes between 40 and 60 minutes. Each tour starts on the hour (e.g. every 60 minutes). SUMMARY:Introduction to Woodwork - Wine Rack
DESCRIPTION:A great way to hone your woodworking skills\, or to learn a new skill from scratch\, this four hour hands-on class will take you through the different skills and techniques needed to create your own wine rack! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUsing recycled and reclaimed wood\, our woodwork tutor Chris will guide you through the different steps to crafting your very own wine rack. During the class\, you will learn how to measure and cut wood accurately and safely; as well as sanding\, planning\, drilling and sawing. \n  \nYou will use: \n– Chop/ Mitre saw – to cut wood at various angles \n– Band saw – to rip through timber \n– Jigsaw – to create free form cuts \n– Drill driver – for pilot holes & fixing screws \n– Pillar drill – to bore vertical holes \n– Disc / Belt sander – for accurate\, powerful sanding \n– Palm sander – for versatile sanding \n  \nJoin our class and build your confidence using a range of woodworking tools and techniques\, while making a versatile item for your home! \nAll tools\, equipment and materials will be provided on the day. \nPlease arrive 15 mins before the class begins. There will also be a short break during the session. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the teacher: \nChris has been doing DIY since he was 16 years old and has worked professionally in carpentry and woodworking for over 25 years. He has a wealth of experience in TV set building and exhibition and installation building in museums. Chris teaches our beginner woodworking classes\, whilst developing his own professional skills in upholstery and furniture making. Chris is also a portrait artist. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAQs \nDo I need any experience prior to the class? \nNo prior wood working experience is necessary\, all health and safety will be taught by our experienced technician. \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements for this class? \nThe class is for people ages 16+. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nOn street parking is free and unlimited. Public transport links are nearby\, and the venue is easily accessible on foot from Liverpool City Centre (see our website for more information\, we’re located at Make North Docks). \nWe have 2 parking spaces in the Make North Docks car park that will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please let us know if you require a blue badge holder and we can reserve your space. \nHow accessible is the venue? \nThe workshop is located on the ground floor which provides full accessibility to the premises including toilet provisions. Please bring along lunch/snacks if you would prefer not to buy it. All materials will be provided for the class. \nWhat should I wear? \nWear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Long hair must be tied back and jewellery and any loose items such as scarves will need to be removed or tucked away prior to the class starting. These rules are for your safety and must be followed. It also tends to run a bit chilly in the workshop\, as it is in a warehouse\, so dress in layers and wear thick-soled shoes. \nCan I get a refund for my ticket? \nRefunds are available up to 7 days before the event. \nRefunds will be offered in the event of the event being cancelled\, alternative dates will be offered if appropriate. \nIf for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 7 days before the workshop. After this date we can only offer a refund if your space is able to be filled. \nThis is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes.

DESCRIPTION:Would you like to know how to use herbs to support your wellbeing but don’t know where to start? \nIn this beginners workshop\, you will be introduced to a variety of herbs and shown how to use them to make teas\, tinctures\, oil infusions and balms. An opportunity to indulge in herbalism to discover and connect to the plants growing around us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop will include: \n– how to dry & store herbs \n– how to make herbal tea infusions \n– how to make a herbal tincture \n– home made cake and herbal tea tastings \n– how to prepare an oil infusion \n– how to make a soothing balm \n  \nA homemade cake & herbal tea break is included in the workshop\, prepared using herbs grown in our community garden. An opportunity to indulge in herbalism to discover and connect to the plants growing around us. \nThe workshop will include: \n– how to dry & store herbs \n– how to make herbal tea infusions \n– how to make a herbal oxymel (using our own Hamilton Honey) \n– herbal cake & tea break \n– how to prepare an oil infusion \n– how to make a soothing balm (using organic beeswax from our hives) \nAll materials will be provided but please wear clothing suitable for the outdoors as we will try to spend some time in the garden (and we can’t guarantee sun unfortunately!). \nPlease note – we will be using honey and beeswax from our sustainably managed bee hives located on site in our community garden. \nIf you would prefer not to use honey / bees wax\, please get in touch ahead of the class and we can organise alternative products for you to use. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEverything you make in the session will be yours to take home\, including: \n– a herbal oxymel \n– a herb infused oil \n– a herbal balm \nThere will also be a selection of sample oxymels for you to try! \nThe herbs you will be using during the session have been grown and dried on site in our community garden or foraged from local wild spots. \n  \nThe herbs we will work with during the day will include: \n– rosehip \n– sage \n– mint \n– calendula \n– lavender \n– and more seasonal delights! \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Teacher \nThe Herbs for Health workshops are led by Rosie Ashton a self taught community herbalist who has been working with plants for several years in community gardens across the UK. \nRosie has a background in permaculture and is an experienced food grower and plant-based chef. She has been creating community gardens and facilitating food growing and wellbeing sessions since 2016. \nWith a passion for plants\, she spends her free time deepening her herbal knowledge foraging\, and in her allotment where she grows an ever growing collection of medicinal herbs . \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAQs \nAre the lip balms vegan? \nNo\, however the beeswax is sourced from our onsite bee hives which are sustainably managed. \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nAny child under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and we operate a no under 10 policy. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nBy Train: \nWe are a stone’s throw away from Hamilton Square train station which is just a short walk down Cleveland street and accessible from all inner city Liverpool Stations and all Wirral line stations. \nBy Bus: \nThere are numerous bus stops nearby and around the Hamilton Square area\, all just short walks away from our space. These include numbers: 41\, 216\, 217\, 409\, 410\, 411\, 413\, 414\, 423\, 811 and several others. \nBy Car: \nFollow the signs for Hamilton Square.
