SUMMARY:Leah Foulkes Solo Exhibition (Independents Biennial)
DESCRIPTION:Make CIC are proud to announce the first exhibition in our new gallery space at our North Docks Site – Sculptor Leah Foulkes\, in collaboration with the 2025 Independents Biennial. \nThe exhibition will be open Monday – Saturday from 11am – 4pm from Friday the 17th of July – Saturday 9th August 2025. \n  \nArtist Statement \nI have always been fascinated by architecture extending to the appreciation of the derelict\, \ndilapidated and decayed. The contrasting properties of materials found within the urban \nlandscape have informed the development of my current sculptural language. I often use \nmaterials and objects taken directly from the built environment without changing their \nfound characteristics in the construction process. The work I am creating is about the formal \nqualities of materials and how I can disrupt or enhance these qualities. I enjoy testing the \nlimits of materials and exploring the ways to manipulate them into new forms or combine \nthem in unexpected ways. Space\, form and materials are all things I consider when making \nthe pieces\, being informed by the space they will occupy and how the forms created will \nchallenge that space. \n  \nArtist’s Biography \nLeah Foulkes is a recent Fine Art graduate from Wrexham University and is now a studio \nholder at Stwidio Olivet\, where she has spent time producing abstract sculptures inspired by \nurban and industrial areas\, through a process of material exploration. The contrasting \nproperties of materials found within the urban environment have formed the development \nof her current sculptural language. She predominantly works on large scale three- \ndimensional pieces but occasionally dips into painting and drawing too. Growing up in \nEllesmere Port has inspired many of Leah’s use of materials\, in particular industrial materials \nmore commonly used in construction and architecture. Leah enjoys testing the limits of \nmaterials and exploring the ways to manipulate them into new forms or combine them in \nunexpected ways.

SUMMARY:Peaceful Painting - Watercolour FAMILY / SUPERVISED CHILDREN session
DESCRIPTION:Paint Your Peace: Watercolour Affirmation Cards\nA mindful\, no-pressure workshop to create something beautiful—just for you\, or someone you care about. \nLed by local artist Olivia McIntosh and supported by fellow creative Katy Lancaster\, this session is all about slowing down\, having a play with colour\, and enjoying the moment in good company. Hosted by Pyromancy Productions C.I.C.\, we’re here to offer a relaxed\, welcoming space where everyone can feel at ease. \nTake some time out for yourself and join us for a calming\, creative workshop where you’ll design your very own set of watercolour affirmation cards. These mini works of art are perfect to keep as a gentle daily reminder\, or to gift to someone special who could use a little lift. \nYou don’t need any experience—just come as you are. This is all about slowing down\, having a play with colour\, and enjoying the moment in good company. We’ll provide all the materials and have light refreshments available\, but feel free to bring along your own snacks or soft drinks too. \nIt’s a great chance to meet new people\, try something new\, and leave with something meaningful you’ve made by hand. \n  \n⚠️ Important Attendance Policy Our workshops are donation based to attend but have limited spaces and often run with waiting lists. If you book and do not attend without giving at least 24 hours’ notice\, you may not be allowed to attend future sessions. \nWe put a lot of love and energy into running these events\, and it’s disheartening when spaces are wasted. Please only book if you genuinely intend to come—or let us know in advance if something changes. This helps us offer your place to someone else who would really value it. 💛 \n  \nThese sessions have been made possible thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund\, the UK’s largest community funder. Each year\, the fund distributes over £600 million to community-led projects and creative initiatives across the country. We’re incredibly grateful to National Lottery players\, whose contributions help bring opportunities like this to life.Learn more about their work at: tnlcommunityfund.org.uk
