SUMMARY:Introduction to Kombucha
DESCRIPTION:Let’s dive into the fascinating world of kombucha and learn about the simple process that turns tea and any additional flavouring with into a sweet\, fizzy soft drink. Soft drinks are commonly-known as bad for your health\, artificial and addictive… But what if you could easily make a fizzy drink at home that is healthy\, tasty\, and with infinite flavour possibilities? \nKombucha is one of the easiest ferments to make and most importantly maintain at home. Contrary to something more high-maintenance like a sourdough starter\, a kombucha starter\, if stored in the proper conditions\, can be left at room temperature for months without you ever needing to tend to it. Although once you start making kombucha\, there is a chance you won’t want to stop and will always have a batch on the go! \nHave you ever heard of a SCOBY ? Most people recall their first encounter with one as it is quite intriguing. What is this jellyfish-like substance and how does it work ? Not sure about the difference between bacteria and yeast ? Wondering about what to do with a new SCOBY someone might have given you ? SCOBY’s are used to make Kombuch and in this class\, we will answer any question you may have. \nJoin us for this exciting class where you will make your own bottle of Kombucha\, making in unique and personal by adding flavourings of your choice. You will go home with an information booklet containing all the information\, tips and health & safety measures to start your own kombucha projects at home. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Teacher \nDiane is a classically-trained pastry chef\, now making sourdough bread at Fika+ (Chester)\, and working on the field at Cheshire Market Gardens. SUMMARY:Another Day - Painting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Another Day – Painting Workshop \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUsing easily-accessible materials and techniques\, this painting workshop looks to engage with themes of nostalgia\, universal experiences\, and daily rituals. Participants will be encouraged to paint scenes or objects from their everyday lives\, helping them connect with creative processes and see beauty in their surroundings. This workshop is designed to make creative practice approachable and accessible to all! \nFree to attend- acrylic paint\, wood\, and all equipment required will be provided. We just ask for you to bring an object or photo of a scene you wish to paint\, and we will guide you through it step by step. \nWider Project Overview: \nAnother Day is a collaborative project between curator Francesca Fryer and artist Aaron Jolley\, exploring how the everyday can be perceived and engaged with through processes of care\, facilitation\, and nostalgia. This project will culminate in an exhibition of paintings\, at Elevator Studios in Liverpool in May 2025. \nAaron’s work is inspired by his observations of the everyday- rooftops\, reflections in windows\, and the quiet intimacy of spaces we inhabit. They resonate with universal experiences\, allowing even those unfamiliar with contemporary art to connect with the work. The exhibition will create an environment where everyone\, regardless of background\, can feel comfortable and engaged\, and demonstrate how creativity can emerge from the mundane\, offering a fresh perspective on art’s role in community life. \nThe exhibition will be complemented by events designed to foster connection\, discussion\, and create a welcoming space for community engagement. These will aim to break down barriers often associated with galleries\, making the art experience more accessible. \nTransport Links: Make on the Corner \nFull address is: \nMake on the Corner \n22 Derby Road \nHuyton \nLiverpool \nL36 9UJ \nBy Bike: There is limited bike storage at the venue – please get in touch ahead of your booking to let us know if you are travelling by bike.
