SUMMARY:Another Day - Painting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Another Day – Painting Workshop \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUsing easily-accessible materials and techniques\, this painting workshop looks to engage with themes of nostalgia\, universal experiences\, and daily rituals. Participants will be encouraged to paint scenes or objects from their everyday lives\, helping them connect with creative processes and see beauty in their surroundings. This workshop is designed to make creative practice approachable and accessible to all! \nFree to attend- acrylic paint\, wood\, and all equipment required will be provided. We just ask for you to bring an object or photo of a scene you wish to paint\, and we will guide you through it step by step. \nWider Project Overview: \nAnother Day is a collaborative project between curator Francesca Fryer and artist Aaron Jolley\, exploring how the everyday can be perceived and engaged with through processes of care\, facilitation\, and nostalgia. This project will culminate in an exhibition of paintings\, at Elevator Studios in Liverpool in May 2025. \nAaron’s work is inspired by his observations of the everyday- rooftops\, reflections in windows\, and the quiet intimacy of spaces we inhabit. They resonate with universal experiences\, allowing even those unfamiliar with contemporary art to connect with the work. The exhibition will create an environment where everyone\, regardless of background\, can feel comfortable and engaged\, and demonstrate how creativity can emerge from the mundane\, offering a fresh perspective on art’s role in community life. \nThe exhibition will be complemented by events designed to foster connection\, discussion\, and create a welcoming space for community engagement. These will aim to break down barriers often associated with galleries\, making the art experience more accessible. \nTransport Links: Make on the Corner \nFull address is: \nMake on the Corner \n22 Derby Road \nHuyton \nLiverpool \nL36 9UJ \nBy Bike: There is limited bike storage at the venue – please get in touch ahead of your booking to let us know if you are travelling by bike. SUMMARY:Introduction to Knitting - Festive Decorations
DESCRIPTION:Please note: In August 2024\, we are relocating to our new site\, Make Hamilton 2! We’ll no longer be at Make Hamilton Square on Cleveland Street. Our new address is just around the corner at 69-71 Argyle St\, Birkenhead! \nJoin us for a relaxing workshop where you can practice or learn knitting skills and create something beautiful for the festive season. Knitting decorations is easy once you master basic stitches\, and it’s a wonderful way to unwind and feel accomplished in just a few hours! You’ll be able to take home your handmade decoration\, perfect for yourself or as a gift. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn the essentials: casting on\, casting off\, knitting\, and purling\, which are the foundation of all knitting projects. These techniques are perfect for practicing changing yarns and increasing or decreasing stitches\, which are key for knitting decorations. \nYou’ll have a variety of seasonal wool and patterns to choose from\, and our knitting tutor\, Cathy\, will guide you through each step to knit your own festive decoration. Whether you’re refreshing your skills or learning new ones\, this workshop is ideal for the festive period! \nDisclaimer: The lead images for this workshop is for illustrative purposes only and may not represent the actual product or outcome of the workshop. With a background in community work\, she founded Threads\, an informal crafting group. Cathy now hosts monthly knitting sessions\, eager to share her skills with fellow crafters.
