SUMMARY:Terrazzo Coasters: Level 1 Terrazzo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Love terrazzo? Learn the technique whilst making your own coaster set! \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nTerrazzo Coaster Workshop \nDuring this session\, you will learn how to make a pair terrazzo-pattern coasters using an eco-resin material called Jesmonite. \nIn recent years\, Jesmonite has become the go-to material for designers and artists looking for an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional resin based products. Originally used in the construction industry\, Jesmonite is an acrylic-modified gypsum (plaster) composite that offers an eco-friendly and safe alternative to fibreglass\, and provides a lightweight substitute to concrete. \nThe workshop will last approximately 3.5 hours\, during which you will create your own terrazzo coasters. You will have the choice to make a pair of round or square coasters with your choice of unique colours that matches your styles and/or the colours of your interior. \nThe session will be broken down in 3 parts with a 30 minutes break in between each\, which will allow your creations to dry as well as provide us with the opportunity for a short natter over a coffee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAurélie\, our resident terrazzo extraordinaire and founder of Aura Living will teach you all there is to know about this eco-resin material\, its different applications\, and show you some other homeware accessory examples we have been making using this great material. She will also show you how to achieve any colour chips and/or base you wish to make using primary colour pigments. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nA little more about Aurélie… \n“With a working background as an interior designer\, I began my journey with traditional ceramic making about 4 years ago. Unfortunately\, during the first lockdown\, I was no longer able to access the pottery studio which made me research other crafts and activities I could practice from home. I discovered the world of eco-resin and its endless possibilities when I purchased a DIY kit to try it for myself. I fell in love with the process\, the ease of use and little requirement for specialised equipment or space\, while allowing you to create hardwearing homeware accessories using a wide range of techniques\, including my most favourite; terrazzo!. As a designer\, my imagination exploded with the prospect of all the ideas I could materialise using this material. I am now so excited to be sharing my knowledge of this product for you to discover and try out a new craft skill.” \n\n\n\n\n\nA note about the class:- \nThe class may not be suitable for people who have any wrist problems as there is quite a lot of sanding involved in the process. \nWear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit of water splashed. The paint used will wash off\, but avoid wearing your best clothes! \n\n\n\n\n\nFAQs: \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nAny child under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and we operate a no under 10 policy. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nOn street parking is free and unlimited. Public transport links are nearby\, and the venue is easily accessible on foot from Liverpool City Centre. \nHow accessible is the venue? \nThe workshop is located on the ground floor which provides full accessibility to the premises including toilet provisions. We would advise wheelchair users to contact the workshop provider on the sale of the ticket to arrange a parking bay. \nWhere can I contact the organiser with any questions? \nFeel free to get in touch with the Make CIC office at 0151 601 8665 or email hello@makecic.org \nIs my registration/ticket transferrable? \nIf you find that you cannot attend then you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend who may find it useful. Please let the organiser know if you need to do this. \nAlternatively tickets can be transferred to a future event up to 14 days before the event. \nDo I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? \nNo\, a register will be taken at the workshop\, it isn’t necessary to print your ticket. \nWhat is the refund/cancellation policy? \nRefunds will be offered in the event of the class being cancelled – in this instance we will give as much notice as possible\, usually at least 5 days\, and offer alternative dates if appropriate. \nThis class does have a minimum requirement of ticket sales to proceed\, so there is a possibility of it being cancelled\, but we will contact you five days before if this is the case. \nIf for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 7 days before the workshop. \nThis is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes. \n*Refunds will be given minus Eventbrite fees\, unless Make CIC cancel the class\, in which case a full refund will be given* \nThe name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay? \nPlease bring along a print out of your ticket if the registration does not match the attendee\, or contact hello@makecic.org to have them change the ticket so it contains your name. \nWhat can I bring into the event? \nYou don’t need to bring anything but yourself. All materials are provided and we also have a café on site selling coffee\, tea and delicious lunches/ snacks. Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty and feel free to bring along a drink or a snack if you prefer. \nI have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been told to self isolate after being in contact with someone with COVID-19 can I get a refund? \nWe can refund your ticket or transfer your ticket to a future class/workshop if you let us know 7 or more days prior to the class or workshop. \nWe can refund your ticket up to 5 days before the event if you can provide evidence of a positive test result or instructions to self isolate if we manage to re-sell the ticket. We will do our best to do so\, but cannot guarantee a refund. \nWe cannot refund your ticket in the 5 days prior to the event. You are welcome to pass your ticket on to a friend or family member but please let us know who the new ticket holder is in advance. \nThis is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes.
