So if you decide woodwork is for you want to come back to work on your own projects\, all you’ll need to do is sign up. When you’ve attended a class\, you’ll be entitled to a discount on your first month of membership as well! Just email hello@makeliverpool.com to find out more. \nJoin our class and build your confidence using a range of woodworking tools and techniques\, while making your very own wine rack. \nAll tools\, equipment and materials will be provided on the day. \nPlease arrive 15 mins before the class begins. There will also be a short break during the session. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAQs: \nDo I need any experience prior to the class? \nNo prior wood working experience is necessary\, all health and safety will be taught by our experienced technician. \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements for this class? \nThe class is for people ages 16+. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nOn street parking is free but limited to 2 hours so vehicle drivers will need a permit for street parking. Alternatively you can park in our visitor car park. We have 4 parking spaces in the Make North Docks car park that will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please let us know if you require a blue badge holder and we can reserve your space. Public transport links are nearby\, and the venue is easily accessible on foot from Liverpool City Centre (see our website for more information\, we’re located at Make North Docks). \nHow accessible is the venue? \nThe workshop is located on the ground floor which provides full accessibility to the premises including toilet provisions. Please let the organiser know if you need to do this. Alternatively tickets can be transferred to a future event up to 7 days before the event. \nDo I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? \nA register will be taken at the workshop\, it isn’t necessary to print your ticket. \nThe name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay? \nPlease bring along a print out of your ticket if the registration does not match the attendee\, or contact hello@makecic.org to have them change the ticket so it contains your name. \nWhat can I bring into the event? \nThere will be a short break during the session with the opportunity for snacks and coffee! Please bring along lunch/snacks if you would prefer not to buy it. All materials will be provided for the class. \nWhat should I wear? \nWear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Long hair must be tied back and jewellery and any loose items such as scarves will need to be removed or tucked away prior to the class starting. These rules are for your safety and must be followed. It also tends to run a bit chilly in the workshop\, as it is in a warehouse\, so dress in layers and wear thick-soled shoes. \nCan I get a refund for my ticket? \nRefunds are available up to 7 days before the event. \nRefunds will be offered in the event of the event being cancelled\, alternative dates will be offered if appropriate. \nIf for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 7 days before the workshop. After this date we can only offer a refund if your space is able to be filled. \nThis is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes. \nI have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been told to self isolate after being in contact with someone with COVID-19 can I get a refund? \nWe can refund your ticket or transfer your ticket to a future class/workshop if you let us know 7 or more days prior to the class or workshop. \nWe can refund your ticket up to 5 days before the event if you can provide evidence of a positive test result or instructions to self isolate if we manage to re-sell the ticket. We will do our best to do so\, but cannot guarantee a refund. \nWe cannot refund your ticket in the 5 days prior to the event. You are welcome to pass your ticket on to a friend or family member but please let us know who the new ticket holder is in advance. \nThis is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes. \n\n\n\n\n*********COVID 19************** \nWe have taken every possible step to ensure this class is run safely. \nSocial distancing measures are in place at Make. \nWe ask that everyone who enters Make’s premises uses the NHS track and trace app\, signs in and wears a face covering\, if not exempt. \nHand sanitiser and face coverings will be provided if needed. \n**PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19** \nFor more specific info on our policies and procedures please email rosie.ashton@makecic.org \n  \n\nEvery second Saturday of the month.

SUMMARY:Beginner Sewing - Shorts or Pants
DESCRIPTION:This beginners course will take you step by step through the very basics of sewing. You will be taught over 3 workshops (Weds evenings). \n\n\nAbout this event \n\n\n\nThis beginners course will take you step by step through the very basics of sewing. You will be taught over the space of 6 hours how to make your own casual men’s shorts or women’s flared pants along with tricks and professional techniques to ensure the perfect finish to your garment. The course is spread over three weeks. \nIn week 1: You will be given a pattern to start cutting out your trousers using either your own material or alternatively you can use fabric provided by the tutor\, Anita. \nIf bringing your own you will need 2.5 meters of woven cotton or linen fabric that is 140cm wide. \nYou will have the opportunity to alter the width of the trousers so they can be wide palazzo or straighter\, according to your style. and you’ll make copy of your pattern that you can keep. \nThe tutor\, Anita will help you to set up your machine showing you all the parts of the sewing machine and giving a full explanation of how to thread it and load the bobbin. \nYou will learn about stitch length/width\, thread tension and look at any issues you have with your machine (if you have brought your own). If Anita can’t fix it \, she will point you in the direction of someone who can. You will receive continued support in threading and troubleshooting your machine throughout the course as it can be difficult at first. \nYou will practice stiches on the machine and learn how to reverse stitch and turn corners. You will try out stitching of different lengths and the zig zag stitches. Next\, with ample support and supervision\, you will start pinning and sewing your trouser pieces together. You’ll also be given instruction on how to use the overlocker and be given the opportunity to practice before using it to give you seams a professional neat finish. \n \n\n\nOver the next 2 weeks you will sew your trousers up to the finished garment which will give you plenty of practice in using your sewing machine to gain confidence in your new skills. \nThe class is capped at 4 people so you will receive lots of help. \nThis beginner course is a brilliant start for anyone new to sewing. If you have a machine you would like to use please bring it with you to all three classes. There are sewing machines available to use at no extra cost if needed. \nThe number of people on each course is limited to ensure a friendly and thorough teaching experience. Complimentary tea and coffee and biscuits will be available each class and there will be handouts covering some of the information discussed in class to refer to after you have finished the course. \n\n\n\n\nFAQs \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nAny child under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and we operate a no under 10 policy. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nBy Train: \nWe are a stone’s throw away from Hamilton Square train station which is just a short walk down Cleveland street and accessible from all inner city Liverpool Stations and all Wirral line stations. \nBy Bus: \nThere are numerous bus stops nearby and around the Hamilton Square area\, all just short walks away from our space.
