Looking for a unique and enriching experience that combines the best of forest school and herbalism?
Each workshop is structured like a forest school experience, with a focus on learning through play and exploration. You’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural world and learn about the different plants and herbs that grow in your local environment. You’ll discover how to identify different plants, learn about their medicinal properties and uses, and explore ways to incorporate them into your daily life for greater health and wellbeing.
In addition to the hands-on learning opportunities, our workshop series also includes reflective exercises designed to help you deepen your connection with nature whilst living in an urban area.
Whether you’re a seasoned herbalist or just starting to explore the world of nature connection and herbalism, our workshop series is the perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with like-minded individuals in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Herbal Forest School is a four-part series for adults, held in the community garden at Make Hamilton. The focus of the workshops is to explore the natural environment in an urban context.
Each session is stand alone, but where possible attendees should commit to all four sessions as every week we will build upon themes from the previous week. However, we do not want this to be a barrier, so please get in touch if you are unable to attend all sessions.
The sessions will be held outdoors so please bring along a coat as we cannot guarantee the sunshine (but it’s all part of the experience!).
Herbal teas will be available during the sessions and attendees will have access to Make Hamilton Squares facilities which are fully accessible throughout the sessions.
About the Facilitator
The Herbal Forest School workshops are led by Rosie Ashton a self taught community herbalist who has been working with plants for several years in community gardens across the UK.
Rosie has a background in permaculture and is an experienced food grower and plant-based chef. She has been creating community gardens and facilitating food growing and wellbeing sessions since 2016.
Currently training with Betonica School of Herbal Medicine and as a Level 3 Forest School Leader with Grow Wellbeing, this workshop series is free to attend as it forms part of her final assessment for her level 3 qualification.

These workshops are for adults ages 18+
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
By Train:
We are a stone’s throw away from Hamilton Square train station which is just a short walk down Cleveland street and accessible from all inner city Liverpool Stations and all Wirral line stations.
By Bus:
There are numerous bus stops nearby and around the Hamilton Square area, all just short walks away from our space. These include numbers: 41, 216, 217, 409, 410, 411, 413, 414, 423, 811 and several others.
By Car:
Follow the signs for Hamilton Square. We don’t have any designated parking for visitors but there is a range of paid and free parking close by.

How accessible is the venue?
The workshop is located in the garden which is fully accessible, there is also access to the main buildings facilities including accessible toilet provisions. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any specific requirements ahead of the sessions.

What is the cancellation policy?
These workshops are fully funded so if for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and let us know as soon as possible so we can free up your space for someone on the waiting list.
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring weather appropriate clothing as all sessions will take place outdoors.
Herbal teas will be provided as part of the session but please bring along a water bottle or any additional snacks you may need.
