Made by Make: Reflecting on 2024

As we reflect on 2024, we’re not just looking at the numbers but what they truly represent. At Made By Make, we’re proud to be more than a commissioning service—we’re a movement that’s all about making a real, positive impact, one unique project at a time. It’s about the people we work with, the communities we reach, and the legacy we’re building together.

At Made By Make, we believe that true creativity comes from the heart of the community. We work with hyperlocal makers, artisans, and suppliers—each of whom brings a unique skill, perspective, and passion to the table. From one-of-a-kind installations to custom awards, event dressing, and beyond, we take pride in turning concepts into high-quality, handcrafted pieces that are as distinctive as the people who create them. Every piece we produce is made with care and expertise, right here in our local area, ensuring that we stay deeply connected to the communities we serve.

In 2024, we’ve delivered six commissions, creating 20 unique pieces of work. From immersive photo opportunities to stage designs, our projects spanned various mediums and settings, reaching audiences across the Liverpool City Region and beyond. We worked with 34 incredible artists and makers, generating £60,000 in commission income directly for them. The impact of our work extended through over 57 press moments, some of which had a global reach, and we had the privilege of bringing visions to life for clients like Ecotricity and Taylor Swift.

But what stands out beyond the numbers is our commitment to making art accessible and meaningful. This year, we challenged traditional ideas of what art is and who it’s for. Our projects were not confined to galleries but instead brought creativity to public spaces, where people could experience, interact with, and share in the work. It was art that lived and breathed in the world, creating moments of joy and connection where people least expected it.

A key part of our work lies in the incredible network of artists and makers we have the honor of working with. From sculptors and woodworkers to digital creatives and textile artists, the 134 distinct specialisms within our network allow us to support and elevate the incredible talent that drives everything we do. By investing in these artists, we’re not only helping them develop their skills but also enabling them to build sustainable practices, collaborate with others, and reach new audiences.

Sustainability has also been a guiding principle for us this year. From reusing materials to repurposing pieces, we’ve worked hard to ensure that our projects are both creative and responsible. We believe that art should leave a positive impact on both people and the planet.

As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited about the future. We’re setting our sights higher, with more ambitious projects and even more opportunities for artists to push their boundaries and take their work to new places. We’re committed to continuing to make art belong in public spaces, in unexpected places, and in the hands of the people who need it most.

Here’s to another year of making, shaping, and redefining what art can be. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
