Rafael Willisch Appointed Chairperson of Make CIC

Make CIC is  thrilled to announce Rafael Willisch as the new Chair of Make CIC’s board. Rafa has a distinguished background in local and international business which includes a time as Managing Director of FINSA UK, and as a Non-Executive Director of Woodside Area CIC.

Rafael has been an avid supporter of Make CIC over the past several years. As MD of FINSA he worked with Make CIC to commission the first client project to build a bespoke display stand for a conference. This was the kernel that later became what we now called Made By Make.

Rafael’s personal interest in the regeneration of Wirral; the maker movement; and his business experience make him the perfect person to take up the role as Make CIC moves from the first ten years, to the next.

Rafael said “It is an honour to become the Chair of Make CIC in the vibrant creative and arts sector of Merseyside. Make CIC is an intrinsic part of the regeneration plan for Birkenhead, contributing to the revitalization of this historic area. I am excited to work alongside their talented team to foster innovation, support local artists, and enrich the community by providing affordable, community-focused creative work environments; facilitating access to opportunities and resources; bringing people together by building networks and hosting events; as well as transforming the environment around us.”

Make’s COO Kirsten Little said “Rafa has been a quiet supporter of Make’s since our expansion into North Docks almost 8 years ago when he was able to supply us with surplus building materials, which we used to create studio spaces, as well as being the catalyst to us creating incredible commissions by prompting the question, “can you make this?”. He took a  leap of faith on commissioning Make in 2018 which started our journey into commissioned work.”
