This festive season, Made by Make has brought a sprinkle of magic to the Cherry Tree Shopping Centre in Liscard as part of their much-anticipated Liscard Christmas Magic event, celebrating the Wirral Borough of Culture. Two of our most beloved installations from the Taylor Town Trail have been reimagined and repurposed, proving that creativity, sustainability, and a touch of Christmas sparkle can come together beautifully.
Candy Cane Lips and a Magical Winter Piano

The iconic lips from our bold and vibrant ‘Red’ installation have undergone a festive transformation. Now adorned with red and white candy cane stripes, they offer a playful, photo-worthy moment for visitors. Whether you’re capturing a fun selfie or posing with friends, these candy cane lips are sure to bring joy and a splash of Christmas spirit to your social media feeds.
Winter Wonderland Piano
The much-loved ‘Folklore’ moss piano has been reborn as a Winter Wonderland Magical Piano, complete with twinkling lights and frosted touches. This enchanting centerpiece adds a touch of whimsy to the season, inviting visitors to pause and revel in the beauty of the holiday atmosphere.
A Commitment to Sustainability and Creativity
This year, we’ve taken a thoughtful approach to sustainability, working with a talented local Wirral artist to embrace the use of upcycled, recycled, and sustainable materials. Our creations incorporate a variety of items, each thoughtfully chosen to reduce waste and give new life to existing resources.
Here’s how we made it happen:
- Old tote bags, reimagined and integrated into the displays.
- Foliage from a previous event, refreshed and woven into the festive decorations.
- Vintage sewing needles from the 1950s, adding a unique historical touch to the artistry.
- Carpet tubes, used creatively to craft structural and decorative elements, turning everyday waste into eye-catching designs.
- Sweet wrappers, artfully repurposed to bring vibrant color and sparkle to the installations.
- Consumables, including leftover fabrics, thread, and other crafting materials, were repurposed to create intricate details and embellishments.
By thoughtfully repurposing these materials, Made by Make showcases the beauty and importance of eco-conscious art, proving that festive decorations can be both magical and sustainable.
