About Us
Make CIC is a social enterprise, founded in 2012 in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle by Kirsten Little and Liam Kelly. Our founders understood the importance of collaboration, creative environments, and providing equipment to emerging artists, and Make CIC was born.
Get in touchOur Vision and Manifesto
Things have progressed since 2012 and what was a 90 metre squared space, aptly nicknamed 90squared with no windows or a sink, became much bigger and our community of makers grew. The overarching ask from individuals on their entrepreneurial or artistic journey was the need for resource so in 2016 Make expanded to Liverpool’s North Docks (now named 10 streets) to open a community makerspace and creative hub, which is now thriving with a multitude of makers with the support of the community and the generous donation of tools to support makers in their ambitions.
In 2019 Make CIC worked with Wirral Council to open a community creative hub in Hamilton Square Birkenhead, Make Hamilton Square. An overgrown concrete jungle is now our vibrant urban growing space, servicing our in house cafe with seasonal produce, honey from our busy bees and the gateway to our 50 businesses and makers who sit alongside our incredible programme of activities.
Make is currently working with Knowsley Council to open a creative hub, this time in Huyton, Knowsley.
Make continues to support many creatives to run classes; supports creative entrepreneurs to start businesses; provides space for people to make things in, a shared workshop and facilitates numerous individuals and organisations to affordably host shows and exhibitions, often for the first time.
A chance encounter that found us short of material to expand our studios, led to the beginning of Made by Make, our well established commission service. In 2017, Finsa, a local materials supplier offered the opportunity to work on a spectacular project, and we’ve not looked back since! Using our plethora of over a hundred skilled artisans from our Makerspaces and local community, we make high quality, unique work, whilst working with a hyper-local workforce and locally sourced materials. Clients have the opportunity to work with Make from the earliest stages of their project, whether that be community engagement or design, right the way through to the building and delivering the project. When Make creates work, profits are reinvested back into the community to support the artists & makers of the City Region.

Make for us is a number of things: we get support for our business and advice on business development, networking, and making connections with other like-minded organisations who share the space. Having the base for our operations at Make has provided us with security as we know our equipment and resources are safe. Having this home at Make has allowed our business to grow.
