Makes Enterprising Women

This year to celebrate International Women’s Day, we thought we would take a moment to highlight some of the incredible things that women on our Enterprise Hub Skills programme have achieved. The Enterprise Hub skills programme is a one to one mentoring service provided by Make CIC, funded by the European Social Fund. From classes success to developing products and brand new business’ the women of Enterprise Hub are doing it all.

Classes success!

Make Mosaic

Alison Ashton has been honing her skills as a mosaic artist for the past few years. After taking on space at our Make Baltic site, she wanted to embark on a new challenge and set up a business, teaching beginners mosaic classes. Ali trialled her first taught classes as part of Make CIC’s pop up classes program in Liscard Town Centre. After several sell-out classes, faultless feedback from participants, and a newly gained confidence as a tutor, Ali decided to set up Make Mosaic – beginners mosaic classes. Ali’s classes have quickly become a regular slot on the Make classes programme. So far, she has run three classes at Make North Docks and Make Hamilton, with them selling out in record time and many more scheduled for 2022!
She is now taking the business to the next level and creating beginners mosaic kits to sell online. With plans to further develop the mosaic workshop offering and go national with the classes! More info about Make Mosaic here.

Aura Living

Aurelie Vanbergen is the founder of Aura Living, Interior design & homeware. She specialises in handcrafted home accessories and has branched out to running beginners workshops through the Enterprise hub skills programme. Aurelie’s classes have gone from strength to strength over the past year. After a trial class in the summer of 2021, Aurelie has run multiple sold-out classes across both our sites and is now one of the most popular classes on the Make programme. Feedback from class attendees highlights Aurelie’s natural teaching abilities. With the capacity to guide participants seamlessly through new techniques to create beautiful, unique coasters after only a few hours! More info about Aura Living here.
