We are thrilled to announce the three incredible artists joining us for the very first residency of This Place, This Stage! Get to know Jasmine Lockett, Emily Edwards, and Faye Wilson.
This Place, This Stage is a project to increase arts participation for young people in Knowsley. Funded by Arts Council England, we are proud to work alongside a brilliant group of partners, including Heart of Glass, Knowsley Council, Adlib, Shakespeare North Playhouse, and our own team at Make CIC.
Supporting Local Talent
At Make, a key aim for This Place, This Stage is to champion young creatives by providing the tools they need to thrive. Through these residencies, our artists receive:
- Dedicated studio space and mentorship
- Masterclasses, workshops, and research trips
- Opportunities for skill development and showcase events
The artists of cohort one are settling in at Make Huyton Village, mentored by our Community and Project Co-ordinator, Dan Chan. We can’t wait to see how they explore the themes of heritage, identity, community, and architectural history through their unique perspectives.
Meet the Artists
Jasmine Lockett
Jasmine is a contemporary artist whose practice uses large-scale expressive painting and textiles. Her work is inspired by lived experience, viewing the human body as a site of vulnerability, resilience, and memory.
- Her Process: Jasmine uses slow, repetitive layering to examine how the body acts as an archive of touch and connection.
- The Residency: For Jasmine, this residency offers the stability and focus needed to work sustainably while engaging with a collective creative community.

Emily Edwards
A painter and installation artist, Emily finds beauty in the overlooked. Her work is profoundly shaped by growing up in Knowsley, drawing inspiration from working-class environments and everyday life.
- Her Vision: Emily reworks images of familiar places to explore personal history, absence and intimacy guided intuitively by color and emotion.
- The Residency: She views this opportunity as a way to grow her practice in an environment that is honest, generous, and grounded in local stories.

Faye Wilson
Faye brings a vibrant energy to the cohort with her background in digital illustration and graphic design. After taking a break from art, she returned with a renewed passion for illustration.
- Her Style: Faye is currently bridging two worlds – one detailed and considered, the other punky and comic-book inspired.
- The Residency: For Faye, a studio will provide her with the confidence to pursue illustration full-time while contributing to the creative community in Knowsley and the wider area.

Looking Ahead
We will be hosting a showcase event in February 2027 to celebrate the work that Jasmine, Emily, and Faye will have made during their residency on This Place, This Stage.
If you’re a young creative that’s aged 16 – 25 looking for a similar opportunity, cohort two will begin in autumn this year. Keep a close eye on our social media and mailing list over the next few months for details on how to apply!
