Making in Liscard

As part of the Liscard Community Grants programme Make CIC hosted a pop-up classes space in Liscard town centre. The space provided a range of free activities for local residents, and visiting town centre users, to take part in. The sessions were focused around making, creating and crafts and allowed participants to engage with other community members. Workshops included, Beginners Mosaics, Intro to Terrazzo, Beginners Woodwork, Crafts for Kids, Furniture Painting Techniques, Forest School and more!

Quote from attendee: “It has helped me feel comfortable again in a group situation, to be around people, and although I was anxious and very nervous at first, I was calmed down and made to feel very welcome by Alison and the tutor. “

Several people who attended the workshops are now engaging with Make CIC in various ways including:

  • Participating in our Enterprise Hub Skills programme (supporting people to start their own businesses
  • Volunteering in our cafe & garden at Make Hamilton
  • Joining Farm Urban’s next fully funded hydroponic growing course at Make Hamilton (many attendees signed up after the intro to indoor food growing workshop)
