Job Purpose and Summary
The available roles of the Maintenance Assistant is to enable the organisation to realise its vision, and deliver its mission, by supporting the team through supporting the running of the creative hubs, operated by Make CIC across the Liverpool City Region or supporting the running of the new Café to be opened at Make Hamilton, Birkenhead.
 
Maintenance Assistant
The role of Maintenance Assistant is to practically support the running of the creative hubs, operated by Make CIC across the Liverpool City Region. The Maintenance Assistant will support the organisation’s Building Custodian to perform routine maintenance, repairs, health and safety checks, and building checks. This role will be primarily based at Make North Docks and Make Hamilton.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring the building is kept tidy, clean, and safe
  2. Undertaking and assisting with maintenance and upkeep activities and custodial duties
  3. Being a point of contact within the building for residents, and members of the Make team
  4. Carrying out essential maintenance including but not limited to:
    1. minor repairs such as mending windows
    2. changing light bulbs
    3. unblocking drains
    4. turning heating and lighting on and off at appropriate times
    5. making sure the premises are clean and tidy
    6. maintain the grounds
    7. removing litter
    8. informing the line manager of any major repairs required
  5. Being responsible for security including opening and closing the buildings in the mornings and evenings
    Storing equipment and supplies safely
  6. Read and understand Make CIC’s fire safety regulations, Health and Safety regulations, emergency procedures and the rules for evacuating the buildings
  7. Replacement of consumables (soap, toilet rolls, hand towels) and of lighting tubes and lights
    Maintaining a variety of records, health and safety checklists and digital databases with assistance from the Operations Manager

CAFE ASSISTANT (Role no longer available)
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the smooth running of the café and building, ensuring it is tidy, clean, well-kept and safe
  • Undertaking and assisting with serving food & drink, and other general custodial duties related to the smooth running of the building
  • Being a point of contact within the building for visitors and contractors
  • Being responsible for security (to unlock buildings in the morning before people arrive, and/or lock up at the end of the day and a shared duty of letting people in who have hired rooms for clubs, classes or evening events)
  • Storing equipment and supplies safely
  • Organising and looking after stock
  • Understanding fire safety regulations, Health and Safety regulations, emergency procedures and the rules for evacuating a building
  • Understand food health hygiene and health & safety
  • Replacement of consumables (soap, toilet rolls, hand towels)
  • Maintaining a variety of records, such as stock levels
  • Ensure the building is clean, clear and safe
  • Undertaking additional duties as required to support the team
  • Undertaking additional duties as required to ensure the building as a whole runs smoothly
