Learn to needle felt at Make! In this workshop, you’ll be shown the basics of how to create 3D felted objects and mould wool fibres, all while creating your very own needle-felted bird! You’ll be shown step by step how to make the body, wings, tail and head using a felting needle and wool. Then, once that’s been made, you’ll make wire legs, and add the some colour. At the end of the session you’ll be able to take your new felted friend home with you!
This course is taught by Katie Jackson, a Yorkshire born fibre artist and printmaker. She recently graduated from LJMU’s graphic design and illustration programme. Katie loves using traditional media to create animal illustrations bursting with character. The memories of growing up on her uncle’s farm greatly inspires her work to this day. It is the driving force behind all her work and the root of her passion for animals.
To see more of her work, and the amazing things you can create once you learn how to needle felt, check out her website, https://www.katiejacksonillustration.com, or follow find her on instagram @katiejacksonillustration.
