Using recycled and reclaimed wood, our workshop manager will walk you through the steps to crafting your very own toolbox. By making your own tool box you’ll learn how to measure and cut wood accurately and safely; as well as sanding, planing, drilling and sawing.

You will use:

Chop/ Mitre saw – Cut wood at various angles

Band saw – Rip through timber

Jigsaw – Free form cuts

Drill driver – Pilot holes & fixing screws

Pillar drill – bore vertical holes

Disc / Belt sander – Accurate, powerful sanding

Palm sander – Versatile sanding

The great thing about joining onto our introduction to woodwork class is, once you’ve been inducted into the class and introduced to all of our equipment here at Make Liverpool, you’ll be fully inducted into Make Liverpool’s workshop! So if you decide woodwork is for you want to come back to work on your own projects, all you’ll need to do is sign up. When you’ve attended a class, you’ll be entitled to a discount on your first month of membership as well! Just email hello@makeliverpool.com to find out more.

Join our class and build your confidence using a range of woodworking tools and techniques, while making your very own toolbox.

All tools, equipment and materials will be provided on the day.

Please arrive 15 mins before the class begins. There will also be a short break during the session.

FAQs:

Do I need any experience prior to the class?

No prior wood working experience is necessary, all health and safety will be taught by our experienced technician.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements for this class?

The class is for people ages 16+.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

On street parking is free but limited to 2 hours so vehicle drivers will need a permit for street parking. Alternatively you can park in our visitor car park. We have 4 parking spaces in the Make North Docks car park that will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please let us know if you require a blue badge holder and we can reserve your space. Public transport links are nearby, and the venue is easily accessible on foot from Liverpool City Centre (see our website for more information, we’re located at Make North Docks).

How accessible is the venue?

The workshop is located on the ground floor which provides full accessibility to the premises including toilet provisions. We would advise wheelchair users to contact the workshop provider on the sale of the ticket to arrange a parking bay.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Feel free to get in touch with the Make CIC office at 0151 601 8665 or email hello@makecic.org

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

If you find that you cannot attend then you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend who may find it useful. Please let the organiser know if you need to do this. Alternatively tickets can be transferred to a future event up to 7 days before the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

A register will be taken at the workshop, it isn’t necessary to print your ticket.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?

Please bring along a print out of your ticket if the registration does not match the attendee, or contact hello@makecic.org to have them change the ticket so it contains your name.

What can I bring into the event?

There will be a short break during the session with the opportunity for snacks and coffee! Please bring along lunch/snacks if you would prefer not to buy it. All materials will be provided for the class.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Long hair must be tied back and jewellery and any loose items such as scarves will need to be removed or tucked away prior to the class starting. These rules are for your safety and must be followed. It also tends to run a bit chilly in the workshop, as it is in a warehouse, so dress in layers and wear thick-soled shoes.

Can I get a refund for my ticket?

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event.

Refunds will be offered in the event of the event being cancelled, alternative dates will be offered if appropriate.

If for any reason you find you are unable to attend then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 7 days before the workshop. After this date we can only offer a refund if your space is able to be filled.

This is because we pay our practitioners fair wages for their work- giving refunds on last minute cancellations would mean that practitioners would not be paid for the preparation they have put into their classes.

Every last Saturday of the month.
